Hou–Tien Cheng
Hou-Tien is a rare performer, designer, illustrator and instructor in the ancient art of Chinese Paper Cutting. At a very young age in Taiwan, he learned his unique skill from his grandmother and perfected the art to earn the title Master of Paper-Cutting. He does his work free-form, without any sketching or marking on the paper in advance. You have to see his magical fingers to believe it!
Author of three books, Chinese New Year, Six Chinese Brothers and Scissors Cutting for Beginners, Mr. Cheng has performed for lucky audiences at The Brooklyn Museum, The Cloisters, and many more and taught workshops at the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan.
Television appearances include Citibank Commercial, ABC News (Pittsburgh), NBC News (Houston), Saturday Morning Channel 5, and a live broadcast, "Wonderama", just to name a few.
